Tonbridge Street · King's Cross
In the shadow of Camden Town Hall, slightly south of the British Library, sits Tonbridge Street. The street, and the surrounding estate, takes its name from Sir Andrew Judd, a 16th century merchant and master of the Worshipful Company of Skinners, who hailed from Tonbridge, Kent. Judd was responsible for developing the Tonbridge Estate, or Skinners’ Estate as it became known, which included the Queen Alexandra Mansions, home to Kenneth Williams, Stanley Baxter, and Modernist painter Paul Nash.
