About The Borough

This store is open and offers all of our regular services, including frame repairs and adjustments, lens changes and spectacle fittings, and eye examinations. This store is wheelchair accessible, but the eye examination room regrettably is not.

We have been working hard to ensure our store and our team are able to meet you safely. Please expect additional safety measures to be in place during your visit.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Design Notes

Our Grade II-listed Borough store was formerly a mission hall, a potato merchant, and a banana wholesaler, which inspired its vivid yellow exterior. Inside, shelving is based on ancient ziggurats, with a bold primary colour palette and an angular point of sale that reference the architecture of Modernist churches in an homage to the site’s religious past. At the back of the store a confessional window allows penitents to bring their broken frames for us to fix, and a donation box is on hand for kind souls to drop off their old frames, which we’ll polish up and recycle, donating to those in need.

Make a day of it

Our favourite spots in The Borough, curated by our team.

Tate Modern: Aside from the usual selection of Rothkos, Warhols and Dalis that reside inside the towering Tate Modern, this temple to modern art plays host to an ever-changing roster of world's biggest artists. Go for the art, stay for the exceptional views from the buildings new(ish) viewing gallery. Your Instagram will thank you. Bankside, London SE1

Olivier's Bakery: Behold, a mountain of rustic ryes, sumptuous sourdoughs and perfectly flaking pastries. You’ve stumbled across the wares of Olivier, freshly delivered from his bakery in nearby Bermondsey. This is our go-to stall for a carbohydrate-heavy treat to compliment our coffee, or for stocking up on the kind of bread that’s just begging you to smash an avocado on it. Borough Market, London SE1 1TL

Elliot's: A restaurant and wine bar inspired by the seasonal produce of its environs: the renowned Borough Market. The service is faultless, the cooking is simple, and the bio-dynamic wines promise to leave you with a little bit less of a fuzzy head the next day - although some self-restraint may be necessary. 12 Stoney Street, London SE1 9AD
